From Wordsworth's 'Lines Written in Early Spring'

To her fair works did nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

a cheap high-school PJ we made when we first read the lines :P

...actually, there was a dirtier version of it, thanx to my beloved friend Ankan De,

Your face is dirtier than the dirtiest comod pan,
And much it grieved my heart to see, what man has made of man..

Well, to explain it in short, what he is saying is that man and nature are interlinked, and not distinct identities. The struggle for superiority within mankind is what perturbs him - authority over each other and an attempt to rule nature as well. So he says that it is man himself to blame for all the problems that the world faces today.

That's a statement that hold true even to this date, and perhaps more so, with the most common examples being of pollution, global warming, world wars, extinction of various flora and fauna species, poverty etc. That was the gist of it, more or less.

Ih others have anything to add, and/or alternate meanings, please do add to this.
