Ekspected?
Came across a name, Apexa Sharma, on Facebook news feed. I tried to pronounce it as Apex-aa, and it didn't sound right, even for a Western name. It was a few second before I realized that it's Apeksha or अपेक्षा, spelled with a difference. Why? WHY? Even the pronunciation isn't correct, strictly speaking. It would be अपेक्सा.

although out of context, I remember a girl by the same name. Me n Satti were singing and playing guitar in the wee hours of the morning at SAC during Antaragni '07, and this girl just couldn't stop looking at him or praising him. Believe me, if it wasn't for her friends who finally persuaded her to come with them, she might as well have eaten him up like chocolate ice-cream :P
Ah! I'd have liked to see Satti being eaten, or licked! Ha ha! Tu kyun kebab mein haddi ban raha tha wahan baith ke, hain be?
hehehe..abe we were not alone, neither was that girl..so the possibility of satti becoming kebab :D was really low even if I left :(

Well, maybe, but I still like to spell that as Lakshmi. No ambiguity there (though who am I to comment with the spelling of my name).
She probably thought it would look and souns very cool. Maybe many others think that it is indeed very cool. But, what a rubbish spelling!

Well yes, I agree with you. A lot of these 'different' spellings look good, either for their novelty or sometimes for pure humour value, but this to me looks plain stupid. But then, that's just a personal opinion.

In the hindi alphabet the akshar "kaksha wala" SH has NO ENGLISH letter close to it..in case u know any except for COMBINATIONS pls enlighten me..so the nearest letter is X "aks" thus APEXA instead of KSH..thus u have DXIT pronounced as DIKSHIT and LAXMAN NOT as LAKSHMAN n Goddess LAKSHMI NOT as that but as LAXMI. Thus be INNOVATIVE and THINK SMARt...I rest my case....besides its a PROPER NAME and MY NAME..so go look for some other name to make fun of. ...How abt startin with URS????....Respect is what i expect u to give to ppls names and in case u were sooo intrigued by my name U could have SIMPLY asked like MANY OTHERS...simple aint it???
